Can not clone or push to Stash instance

kbarborak November 28, 2012

Hello guys,

I am trying Stash (trial licence) and I have got problem with http access to created Git repositories. I am unable to clone or to push due to following error message:

error: The requested URL returned error: 502 while accessing http://...:7990/scm/JIP/test.git/info/refs

In addition, I can not find any information in logs. No files are changed in <stash-home>/log or <stash-installation>/logs after clone or push request.

I followed instructions at https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/STASH013/Installing+Stash+on+Windows and I hope didn't miss anything.

My configuration is

  • latest Stash in trial mode with internal database
  • Windows Server 2008 r2 standard
  • msysgit distribution in version 1.8 (installed in Program Files(x86)) - on server as well as on client
  • JDK 7u9 in path without spaces (32bit version)
  • <stash-home> is totally separated from <stash-installation> and path is very short (C:\Atlassian\stash-home)

Stash is up and running. I can create new Git repositories without problem. I think I did everything what I saw in installation instructions.

Thank you for any ideas

the 502 return code is usually returned by an HTTP server sitting between your git client and your Stash server. Could it be a http vs https issue?

You are right! I am sitting behind corporate Microsoft powered proxy sever and I am using Cntlm local proxy on my client to bypass ntlm authentication for software that doesn't support it. Cntlm was a reason of this issue even if ip range including my Stash server is configured to not using parent proxy (NoProxy list in cntlm.ini). Thank you for kicking my mind :-).
