fisheye avatar slow loading

Does anyone else have issues with fisheye avatars loading very slowly? 

We have issues with avatars/profile pictures taking a while to load, which slows down operations across the application. Something as simple as creating a review is now extremely time consuming as all the avatars for the associated users on the project have to finish loading before the review workflow continues. For large teams, this makes review creation almost impossible.

Running version 3.5.3. Did not have this problem before upgrading from 3.0.1 a couple weeks ago.

I haven't been able to find any known issues about slow avatar loading at currently.

You might be best off raising a support ticket. Try to capture a few stack traces during the avatar request to help us diagnose further.

I've exported a har of the whole page loads. All profile pics with default avatars take 14-16s to load. The one custom profile pic takes ms to load. Any suggestions besides opening a support ticket?

By slow loading, I mean 10+ seconds. Everything else seems to be happening fast, no noticeable bottlenecks. This is a standard charlie avatar. Not a custom profile pic.  Here is some timing information for loading up a review page:
