Is it possible to copy the user database from our jira server to our Crucible server?

L. Schimmel September 2, 2015

Hi,

so we just set up our crucible Server and I already created an application Link in both directions.(JIRA Crucible)

But I ask myself if it is possible to mirror the user databases between servers so that I get around creating all users again.

Do you know how?

Hi Leonard,

You can use JIRA as the external user management tool and control the users that have access to Crucible. This will also allow you to add all the users you have in JIRA over to Crucible. By creating groups you can also further enhance the control you have over the users who have access to Crucible.

Please see the following documentation for more details;

 https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Allowing+Other+Applications+to+Connect+to+JIRA+for+User+Management

Kind Regards,

Chris

Hi Chris, I'm trying to follow the instructions in the link you posted. I don't see 'JIRA User Server' link on the user management page. Do you know what might be the cause of this? TIA, Dmitry

Are you using JIRA Cloud by any chance? You can't use JIRA Cloud as the user management tool for self hosted Atlassian applications. If you are using a self hosted version of JIRA or have recently migrated from JIRA Cloud to a self hosted JIRA then you ay be running into the below bug: - https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-35165 Workarounds are either: 1) Navigating directly to http://<local-installation>/secure/admin/ConfigureCrowdServer.jspa will reveal the screen for setting up externally-accessible user management. 2) Run the following query, and restart JIRA: UPDATE pluginstate SET pluginenabled='true' WHERE pluginkey='jira.webfragments.admin:crowdApplication';
