We know that many of you have been eagerly waiting for the upcoming Confluence Data Center Long Term Support (LTS) release. We’re excited to share that Confluence 9.2 has just been released!

ℹ️ Why choose a Long Term Support release?

Upgrading to a Long Term Support release provides you with continued access to critical security, stability, data integrity, and performance fixes. Being on the latest version enables you to move quickly when a high-impact bug fix, or security fix is backported. Each Long Term Support release is supported for two years before reaching its end of life.

What to look forward to in Confluence 9.2

The Confluence team has been focused on continuing to raise the high bar we’ve set for quality, stability, security, and scalability.

The Confluence 9.2 LTS incorporates all enhancements and features introduced since our previous Long Term Support release, Confluence 8.5. Thank you for this announcement @Jacqueline Bietz.

I'd like to highlight an important detail that isn't visible in this announcement, release notes or upgrade notes for Confluence 9.2 LTS. When upgrading to 9.2, you will also upgrade your system to Platform 7, which is a major rewrite of the core system architecture and the interfaces with apps/plugins that was introduced in version 9.0. Everyone upgrading should take a good look at the 9.0 release notes and 9.0 upgrade notes.

I recommend testing version 9.2 with all production-relevant apps in a dev environment to reduce the risk of unexpected production outages. If you have internally written plugins, they will also be affected by the Platform 7 changes. We app vendors have put down a lot of testing efforts to achieve compatibility with this new release. However, even if an app is marked as "compatible", the risk of unexpected issues is a lot higher that normal for a major version upgrade due to the many fundamental changes in Platform 7. Careful testing is highly recommended.

Hi @Alexander Naumann

Confluence does not yet support OAuth 2.0 for outgoing mail (SMTP). But we're working on adding it. You can follow this ticket to get notified of any updates.

Thanks,

Jacqui
