user mentions (@user name) in Confluence does not reflect inactive users

Florian Baur May 30, 2024

Hello there

Is there a way inactive users can be identified in confluence?

We can mention users using "@user name". Fine so far. But if a user has left the company, theses mentions are not reflecting the users inactive state.

Is there a way to do so?

We created a workaround using ScriptRunner.

A script detects deactivated users and adds (if not done yet) an Emoji to it. (we use 🚫 )

So the user mentions look like FirstName Name 🚫

We have Jira, that imports users from AzureAD.
Then, confluence synchronizes with the user directory from Jira, which is working fine.

Does this make the difference, maybe?

Are you deactivating the users as they leave the company? Once deactivated, they will no longer show up in @ mentions.

this seems definitely not be the case.

User is inactive.

But where he's mentioned, nothing changes.

He cannot be selected for NEW mentions, but the existing ones are not reflecting his status.
