select alternate server.xml location

Brian Hill November 7, 2012

I need to modify conf/server.xml, but I don't want to do it in the jira home, since that makes system updates a hassle.

There must be some way to feed options to the java command to tell tomcat to use a different server.xml, without moving tomcat altogether. I'd also rather not use a symbolic link if that can be avoided.

How is this done?

Hi Brian

Peharps you can just call the server's binary with -f value. For further details, the following link could be useful:

http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-3.2-doc/uguide/tomcat_ug.html

Also, try to seek for further details in the default apache/tomcat docs.

Cheers,

Paulo Renato
