"Publish new page" automation doesn't show all templates

tfellinger November 6, 2023

I want to create an automation that publishes a page at specific times. I use the "Publish new page" automation action, but unfortunately it seems not all templates are showing up. I see a lot of them, the list also contains custom ones we created, but for some reason certain ones (and exactly the one I want to use) are not visible.

Can someone help me find out what is going on here?

I'm able to create pages based on this template as usual. Others are able to do the same thing...but the automation seems to not be able to access it somehow.

Any hints?

Thanks!

I have the same problem.

Here is a possible ugly workaround which I've devised, and that I need to verify. Note that if step 2 yields 0 results, you cannot use this workaround.

  1. In Confluence, review the list of templates that are visible as templates
    1. Your template, the "hidden" one, will not be listed
  2. Find a template which is in the list, but not in use. Let's call it the "unused" one
  3. Create a test Jira automation rule that will create a new Confluence page from a template
  4. In the rule's action, look at the list of available templates and verify that the template that you've chosen (the "unused") is listed
  5. In Confluence, edit the "unused" template and overwrite its contents with the contents of the the "hidden" template. Save it
  6. Run your automation rule and verify that a new Confluence page is created with the desired contents

After I verify that this workaround works, I would need to check if I can rename the "unused" template and give the name of the "hidden" template (with a slight change, as Confluence does not allow multiple templates with same name).

I will report the results here.
