I want this automated. I want to add a link to all the child pages in my parent page without having to do it manually. When a child page changes/is removed/added, it should automatically be updated in this page with the links.
Is this possible?
Here's the correct help for this. https://confluence.atlassian.com/conf85/children-display-macro-1283360138.html

The link that you posted is for the Data Center 8.5 version of Confluence.
The tags on your post/question above say Cloud.
The two Confluences are different and may use different nomenclature, especially with older versions of the Data Center, that's why there are two versions of documentation for many features.

Interesting. The default value of the "Display preview" parameter is supposed to be "none." Maybe you'll need to set it explicitly?

I didn't see an option to do this. I selected the Include Children Macro. I don't see Child Pages macro, if it's different. Am I missing something?
Per the help, it says:
The Include Children macro serializes and inserts the content from all descendant pages of a page (the children, grandchildren, etc...). This is useful for providing users a quick way to see or print all the content below some node in the Confluence page tree.
