Hi Maghnus,
As Bruna told you, neither Xen or VMware aren't officially supported by Atlassian -- as well VMware can cause several performance issues with Atlassian software. Howeve,r if you intend to use a virtualized platform, we have an enterprise guide that may help you with this matter:
It is focused on VMware, but some information over there can be used by all virtualization platforms.
Best regards,
Lucas Timm
Lucas,
The page you linked to is secured. I found references to another page on the topic in the JIRA documentation site, Virtualizing JIRA (JIRA on VMware), but that page doesn't resolve. Is there a replacement for these pages?
Thank you.

Xen itself is not supported, however in case you experience some issue running Confluence on XEN the supporters will be able to help if XEN is not causing the problem (as performance issues).
Cheers!
