Hi,
A long time ago, our company bought JIRA and Confluence (server version), but for various reasons these products were not implemented at the company.
But now, we would like to use it - company-wide - and we want to update to the latest version. Our JIRA version is 9.4.10, and the Confluence ver. is 6.6.5.
Our IT department inform us, there is no way to upgrade the Confluence. Is it true? Does anyone have experience with this?
I would be happy and grateful if someone could share this with us, or show some knowledge that could be used to make the necessary update.
Best regards:
Peter

It is still possible to upgrade Confluence to the latest version if you have a valid license. However, please ensure you follow the version upgrade path for an older version of Confluence. E.g 6.6 -> 7.x -> 8.x.
On top of that, please ensure you check on the database and other system compatibility with the newer version of Confluence when planning the upgrade.

Dear Laura,
We have a couple of projects and workspaces in JIRA and Confluence right now (and our JIRA is almost up-to-date, the version is a Nov 2022), these informations are important.
Now, we have a project in our company that aims to move to the cloud, but it is a very lengthy process (the target date is Q3 2024).
The upgrade is required for the transition peridon only.
Br,
Peter

Hi @Peter Jager and welcome to Community.
If you never got Jira and Confluence up and running, or at least the data in them is no longer important since it's pretty old, I would really recommend looking into starting over with Cloud. Since your company hasn't been using Jira and Confluence for a long time, you may have missed the news that Server sales have ended and support ends in just a few months. If your company needs to host Jira and Confluence because of data residency requirements or other, you will need to purchase Data Center licenses.
