Hi there -
We are a small development company who is trying confluence for the first time - we are currently trying to get used to Jira. We have a space that was created when we first joined, and we are unable to do anything with it - delete it, add permissions etc... It looks as if it is a known bug (CONFCLOUD-68319) - and so I would be incredibly grateful if someone is able to let us know how we can get rid of it so we can recreate one we can use.
Many thanks,
David
Hey David, welcome to the Community!
As you've found, the Confluence space created by the onboarding wizard in Free couldn't be deleted for some sites. We fixed this issue for all Confluence sites created since around the start of the year, but it looks like your site was created before the fix was put in place.
Due to how permissions are set up in our Cloud products (we don't have access to your data without your explicit consent through our separate support portal) and that Free sites get help through here on Community, the action we need to take in this particular situation is to get you on a Standard plan. The good news is that you can activate this on your Confluence site now without adding payment information, and you'll be able to choose at the end of the trial if you want to continue on Standard or go back to Free.
The quickest way to get this rolling is going to <yoursite>.atlassian.net/admin or admin.atlassian.com (and then selecting your site). On the Manage Subscriptions page, you should see your Confluence site (Jira pictured below) listed as Free and have a link to Change:
After viewing the differences and selecting Standard, you'll get info confirming that you don't need to add payment details at this point and letting you know when your trial period ends:
Once you're on Confluence Standard, you should be able to modify the permissions on that first space.
Tip: using the "Override all permissions" feature at the top will reset the space quickly by just clicking the Apply button!
At that point, you can choose to delete the space or even use it as a normal space, now that you have admin control over it.
I'm watching this thread - please let me know if you have more questions!
Cheers,
Daniel | Atlassian Community Support
