Mode object type and possible values

In typical decorators, you see something like this:

#set ($mode = $params.get("mode"))

Can anyone tell me what type $mode is and what the possible values are? I've seen "edit" and "view", but is there a list of constants somewhere? Thanks!

Try the documentation for the show-if macro by Customware as it offers a mode parameter as a criteria for showing content. One other mode is "template" for when a template is being previewed.
