Missing: Insert image from web

Gustavo Mello August 14, 2019

I can't seem to find the option "Images from the web" from the insert menu, as described in the documentation:

Insert an image file from the web

You can display an image from a remote web page on your Confluence page, without needing to attach it to your page. You need to know the URL for the image, not for the web page it appears on.  This is only available for image files, not other types of files (like documents).

To display an image from a web page:

  1. Choose Insert > Files and choose Images from the web.
  2. Enter a URL for the image (for example, http://atlassian.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/AtlassianBushRegeneration-12January2012-083-trunc.jpg).
  3. Choose Preview to check that the URL and image are correct.
  4. Tap Insert.

Try copying and pasting the image instead.

The instructions are out of date because Atlassian is in the process of introducing a new editor, which has changed how files and images are added to a page. See https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Confluence-discussions/New-and-improved-file-uploading-experience-in-Confluence-Cloud/td-p/1027918

There is a related (and more active) thread here about the new editor if you have any feedback https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Confluence-discussions/Try-out-the-new-editing-experience/td-p/1000813

Is there a solution for inserting images from the web just by copying the URL? Pasting the link doesn't seem to work at all for me in the new editor. Any tips are appreciated.
