We updated a Confluence Data Center instance to 8.8.0, and now the Application Navigator menu (in the upper-left) is hard to see. It's now a light gray color.

The names of commenters in comment threads are also a light gray.

Is this happening to anyone else? If so, is there a way to change out the image or adjust its color?

I checked the Look & Feel admin menu, but there's no color setting there.

The menu is now #FFFFFF (hex value) colored. 🫠

For those experiencing dim inline commenter names (in 8.8.0 and 8.8.1), this is a known issue with a workaround.

See JAC issue https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFSERVER-94846 for the workaround, which involves modifying your Confluence instance's global stylesheet.

Hi @Dave Liao

I don't have access to a Confluence DC right now - but could either of these be helpful?

Sadly no, but thanks for sharing these!

Even when I reset the color scheme to default, the app nav menu is pale. Names of commenters in in-line comments are also still dim… 😢

For the record, I tried...

  • Replacing the Confluence instance's site logo with a random image (a cat, FYI). As you know, when uploading a new site logo, Confluence attempts to update the site colors dynamically to match. Unfortunately that didn't help either. 😢
  • Checking if Confluence assets were behind a CDN. (Answer = No)
  • Checking if there was custom HTML in the banner/footer/etc. (Answer = No)
  • Switching the Confluence instance to Safe Mode, and seeing if that makes a difference. (Answer = No)
  • Flushing all caches. (Result = No Change)
