We have configured ODSEE in confluence with specific group access. When i add the user in LDAP, i don’t see the user is coming to LDAP until the user is logged into confluence.
This issue I am having right now, we use Local group in confluence and for LDAP we are just using for authentication. Every time we have to ask user to login to confluence before granting them access to specific space. If the LDAP sync can pull the user once I added into group, I can add them into confluence without asking them to login first time.
Confluence Version: 5.3.6
Aberration from my end:
LDAP sync is happening only the user authenticates.
Copy User on Login check box is enabled. Since we have only Production environment I havent unchecked this box and tested.
I am not seeing any manual synchronization option.
It looks like you have set up Delegated LDAP instead. This is the correct behavior where user information will be authenticated first on the user's first login and then only it copies the user's information over Confluence as the screenshot above. Using Delegated LDAP will not sync the users but rather authenticate them as they log in for the first time. This is usually very beneficial if you have very limited user-based license.
However, based on your requirement, it looks like your method would be connecting directly to the LDAP server. This will perform regular sync where the entire user directory of the LDAP server (or if you have specified a filter) to completely sync to your Confluence.
I hope this information help!
