Java Error in Confluence AD Setup

Paul LaBarbera February 3, 2015

We're getting the following error when we hook up one of our Active Directory servers to Confluence. The VPN is set up correctly, and the directory is working in other applications. Does anyone know what's causing this error?

Connection test failed. Response from the server:¶
qtscl2.invision.com:389; nested exception is javax.naming.CommunicationException: qtscl2.invision.com:389 [Root exception is java.net.UnknownHostException: qtscl2.invision.com

Hi Paul

  1. can you ping your AD-server  by hostname and ip?
  2. can you make a telnet to your server on 389?

If you can ping it by ip and not be hostname -> make an entry in your hosts file

If you can ping it, but the telnet is not working -> check your firewall

Regards

Steve

We can ping it. I'm in charge of the content on Confluence, I'll have to follow up with the Sys Admin guys to ask about the telnet test. Thanks

Let me check the hosts file... that might be it. Thank you!!
