If someone doesn't have 'View' space permission, links to pages in that space will be shown.

The documentation says

  • If someone doesn't have 'View' space permission, links to pages in that space won't be shown at all.

This is not what I see, I can see links to pages in spaces that I do not have view space permission, and the when I click on the links, I see the Page not found message.

Hey Darrel,

I just tested it in one of the latest version of Confluence and you are definitely right. The current behaviour in Confluence doesn't match with the documentation. With that in mind, I just created the following task request, so our technical writers can modify the doc to reflect it:

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-39576

I also have put some thoughts about it, so we can either change the doc or we can work to apply this procedure only to URL's directly pasted in the page. The reason is that if you hide links tied to words, it could mess with the text.

Thanks for the finding, Darrel!

Cheers,

Giu
