I want to deploy a calender but will filter what events you see depending on assignment group

Christian Ryu January 20, 2025

Hello, I am currently attempting to deploy a calendar on our confluence main page. We are a enterprise organization with many smaller departments. We are trying to consolidated the calendar, with this effort I want to deploy one of two solutions:

Solution 1: Assign groups within confluence with individual's profiles. Then on the calendar try to implement a macro where the individual viewing the page will have filtered events so they are non inundated with other irrelevant events.

If the above doesn't work then I will resort to solution 2

Solution 2: When making an event on the calendar, have the individual tag the event with a custom event tag (Drop down will be generated by me) then as an individual, you can then filter the calendar yourself.

The main objective is to not have many calendars strewn across the enterprise amongst multiple pages and sub-pages within our organization.

Thanks in advance

Hi @Christian Ryu

You will have to revert to option 2.

Option 1 is not possible.

Thank you so much for the help! So I understand how to add event types, but can you add categories to events in a calendar?

Thank you

Hi @Christian Ryu

No there isn't, even anyone with the edit space permissions can create a new calendar in a space.

users/groups are able to view a space, you can only set page restrictions based on users/groups or even to a calendar I think, but not to certain parts of a page.

On another forum post, there was a small mention of a confiform macro that applies a filter onto a specified page, someone said you can then generate a calender onto this macro, can this work in order to filter out certain key words?

Hi @Christian Ryu

Then you need to try the app Confiforms from the marketplace.

Read the documentation of the app or reach out to the app developer.

I haven't used the app myself.

@Alex Medved _ConfiForms_ can you confirm that this is possible?

ConfiForms CalendarView definitely could be filtered as you want to, can also be filtered by user's security groups

A lot depends on how you organize the data and what do you store - note that the data needs to be stored in ConfiForms in order to be shown in ConfiForms. Feel free to get in contact woth the support team and we will try to unblock you
