Hyperlinking to an Image File (Not New Editor Capability)

We have users that want to keep their confluence pages clean and with the new editor they have lost the ability to hyperlink to an image. So you can't have clickable blue text that opens an image without it having a link associated with the image. This in the legacy editor was a possibility and the work around of copying an old page or the legacy template (which we don't have as an option) seem to be very tedious and can cause user error in the effort to gain this functionality. Is there a plan to resolve this enhancement or is it a situation where this isn't in scope for the tools future?

Hi @Kevin Moss

I tried to reproduce this, however I was able to link to existing images.  In the below example, I have a page with the image file 42806.jpg which is the "Cheap Candy Day" graphic.  I was able to copy the link to the file and paste it on the page (I just put it at the bottom), then after it converted it to the link, I configured it and changed it to the text "link to pic", it worked as expects, it's an active link and when clicked it loads the pic

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is Jira, I'm referring to confluence.

Yeah I don't see this screen, so let me show the steps,

So currently in the new editor if I wanted to hyperlink text to make it show an image from a local file I only get this screen.

There isn't a place here for a File like the old editor, it just only wants you to paste a link. I notice in your screen shot there is a place to pull said link but I'm not sure where you're getting that confluence screen from?

If I insert an image, I only get this as an option:

fileupload.pngimagedrop.png

This drops the image in (I enlarged for visibility sake) I'm caught at that in the old editor you can just have blue text and when you select it (it then displays the image) this is not in the new editor to my knowledge.

I hope that clarifies

I appreciate your help though.

Two ways to get the link.

After adding the pic, right click and show in new tab, then the link is the URL for that new tab.

Add the attachments macro to the page, and the pic file will show up as one of the attachments.
