How do I count each selected option of checkbox?

Peter Liu January 18, 2022

A supervisor in my Division asked me Is there an easy way to determine which courses got the most votes? I've tried to follow the example on edge://newtab (atlassian.com). But I still struggled. My results are in the attached screenshot. Any help to proceed would be appreciated.

Hi @Peter Liu ,

The Table Filter and Charts for Confluence app is our add-on. The example that you are referring to allows you to count empty/checked checkboxes inside the table cells. And in your example I see that you use some 3rd party app that collects votes (screenshot 1) and gives you a summary report (screenshot 3).

In this report you don't have any checkboxes at all - as I understand, the chosen courses are represented as text labels. And the combinations are also different.

So, if you need to count popular courses (not the voting combinations!), then you may use the Table Filter macro and its Free Text filter (type in the name of every course from your list, hover your mouse above the filter icon and see the number of entries with this course).

If you need to aggregate the voting combinations, then you are on the right way with the Pivot Table macro.

By the way, which hosting type do you use? If you are on Cloud, we can suggest using our Poll Maker for Confluence: it's a free app that supports multivote and shows the result in a very user-friendly way.

Hi there,

As this thread mentions our Table Filter and Charts for Confluence add-on, we are happy to introduce its new macro – Table Spreadsheet.

Our new macro allows you to work with fully functional Excel spreadsheets right in Confluence.

You’ll be able to use cells’ formulas, filters, conditional formatting, etc., create pivot tables and charts from the page view and edit mode.

The Table Spreadsheet macro is available for Cloud and Server/Data Center.
