Excluding single pages for Viewport publication

Hi all,

I'm publishing multiple Confluence pages with a lot of child pages via Scroll Documents and Viewport for wider access. Unfortunately, some of the child pages are only suitable for restricted users. How can I exclude those pages from the version for Viewport?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @Hendrik Knöll

You can achieve that by using Scroll Documents + Variants for Scroll Documents from the same vendor. This combo will allow you to create 'conditional content'.

I'm using the two apps with Viewport to create a Public and an Internal documentation Viewport site from a single Confluence space.

The way it works for me is:

  1. Create a Scroll Document in your Confluence space (a Scroll Document is basically a virtual representation of the space/section of the space)
  2. Use Confluence labels to label pages that you want to publish in Viewport with a label, e.g. Public
  3. In Variants, create a 'variant' - a set of conditions. For example
    • Public - include pages that match ALL of the following rules: has label > public.
  4. Then just tell Viewport to use the specific Scroll Document and the Specific variant.
This will assure that only pages labeled public pages will appear in BOTH

You can go really wild with conditions, it's an extremely useful tool. For example, you can exclude parts of any page from your public docs and make them appear only in the internal docs.

It may be confusing at the beginning so feel free to ping me on LinkedIn to chat about it (don't worry, I'm not charging anything and you won't be the first person to do so :) ) or contact K15t.

Hi @Hendrik Knöll

You can take a look at this part of the viewport documentation, exclude-pages-from-navigation-and-search

Otherwise contact the app vendors support, to see if this is possible.
