Hi,
We are planning to be using Excerpts heavily in our Production Confluence Spaces, and our teams are requesting a solution/workflow for the following, which we wish to understand if it can be done:
Set a lock to a certain certain version (or date) of the excerpt content in question, meaning that the include excerpt will stop updating after that version or date for the selected excerpt.
Our team needs this as several projects will be inserting excerpts from i.e. a training page, but at a certain date or version this project will no longer need to be kept updated and the team wants to be able to go back to that page and see the exact version of the excerpt that was used at the time this project delivered. While the Excerpt could keep changing in the future and be needed for other include excerpts with the latest excerpt updates.
Best Tea
Hi @tkrogh and welcome to the Community.
While this is not possible natively in Confluence, you can do it with an app.
In a nutshell... Scroll Documents from K15t supports the standard way of versioning content (semantic versioning, for example).
The way it works is that it creates virtual Documents (a document can be the Entire Space or any section of a space). Then you create 'snapshots' of those documents - those snapshots are your versions. These snapshots/versions can be browsed independently as standalone 'spaces'.
So you work in your Confluence space (a Scroll Document) - this will be your permanent working version, at the end of each month you create a snapshot (say July 2024, August 2024).
Those versions (snapshots) will stay intact, frozen in time if you will.
Hi Kristian,
Thank you for sharing.
I have it on my backlog to check out K15 products, but for now we will need to work with what we have out of the box in Confluence.
Thanks.
Best Tea

@tkrogh If you don't want to use 3rd-party apps, but want to have a snapshot of the excerpt(s) for a specific release, I would think you might just want to generate a PDF of the pages containing the excerpts or the excerpt includes and labelling them with the release number.
You could then attach those PDF files to the page for easy accessibility later.
