Excerpt in Confluence Database

Elise Cole December 16, 2024

I was trying to use excerpts within a page to pull information into a database entry, however I realized there's no way to select which excerpt the field reads. Instead it just reads the first excerpt it finds. Is this a bug or as intended?

Hi @Elise Cole

The good practice on Confluence page is to use only one excerpt macro.

Some none native plugins like Multiple Excerpt can allow you to create several excerpt zone in your page but it is not handle in native macro to be retrieved.

So yes, it is the correct behavior you are experiencing.

Oh interesting, I never knew that!
Is there any other way to surface information input into a Confluence page into a database aside from the excerpt macro? I'm trying to avoid putting information directly into the database as databases still don't have version control, while pages do.
