Atlassian's Smartlink documentation says
"Not every URL can fully display within Confluence. Some products will only show a preview of the content and relevant metadata"
So far, it seems like Loom videos do embed fully when smartlinked into the content tree while Zoom only provides metadata.
Is there a comprehensive list of which tools are fully integrated with the SmartLink feature and which only display metadata?
Additoinally, is there a product roadmap for upgrading any smartlinks from metadata to full embed or is this not a current priority?
It would help our organization make fully informed decisions around vendor choices. Thank you!
Hi @callie.miaoulis 👋
Great question. While I'm not aware of a fully complete list of Smart Link integrations, this Smart Links gallery outlines a large of number of platforms where Atlassian has done work to pull in specific metadata and/or allow for embedding (the dropdown filters at the bottom of the page let you specificity inline, card, or embed).
In addition to those listed in the gallery, tools that already allow for embedded states also should work if you add them as a Smart Link in the Confluence content tree. YouTube is great example of this, but also analytics tools like Tableau work well and I've seen data teams make great use of embedding dashboards as their own objects in the content tree.
On the Zoom front, we've had many customers simply use the Loom's Zoom recording meeting auto-importer feature which lets them then turn around and use Smart Links in the content tree to make them available to the right teams.
Hope this is helpful. 🙂
