We are new to Confluence and still trying to figure it all out, however we are excited about the ability to collaborate on a new knowledge based document and then make that document public for our clients. However we do NOT want our clients to be able to see our page comments, in-line comments, 'modified last' details, etc..
I did see one article advising that there is an app (Spacecraft) that can help with this, but I was wondering if there is really no option in Confluence?? Do we really need an app for this?
If so, do you have any other recommendations on how to quickly convert our internal documents with comments to a nice looking public facing document without any comments or details we don't want the public to see.
Thanks in advance!
The ultimate way to decouple your Confluence environment from your public Confluence-sourced content is Scroll Viewport which creates a static website totally independent of Confluence. Thus... you don't have to have space with anonymous access. Example
This also gives you an extra layer of protection - typically, when you save (publish/update) the page in an anonymous space, the contents are immediately visible to the public. Which might not be ideal. With Viewport, you decide when you make the finished pages available.
There are apps that allow you to sync content between the two spaces (your source space with comments and your target space without comments) but the ultimate issue is that you still have to make your target space accessible to anonymous viewers and it will still display all sorts of Confluence details. So you would have to use a theme app anyway.
Hi Sarah,
Welcome to the community!
There's no built-in way to hide comments on public Confluence Cloud pages (yet!). Many users have requested this, and you can follow the feature request here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFCLOUD-24939
For now, you could:
There are also paid apps that can help, but those might not be ideal if you're just starting out.
Hope this helps!
