Database "Page link" usage

How do you use "Page details field" on databases?

It contains "Page link" option, but this does not show any options to select pages from, does not search pages when content is typed nor does it accept links.

What am i supposed to put there to get page details?

Hi @LAL

You must first insert or import your pages into the Database. The Page Link option just tells the DB which resource to pull the data from.

I wrote an article here on Community that shows how to import all pages from a space into the database.

Hope it helps.

Thanks this was helpful.

It seems that if Jira is connected to the database the Confluence options cannot be used, but this is not indicated in any way.

In addition, the Confluence database does not seem to really work at all. Have you tried using a filter to filter Confluence pages by space? That does not seem to work at all.

I wonder why they released databases in this condition. There seems to be tons of bugs

I'm using DB as a kind of docs life cycle management toll (product documentation) and it's confined to a single space...

The thing is, and I'm not being apologetic here, that DBs were originally designed for a different purpose, not for page management, so we're pushing the boundaries a bit here.

Try looking into this - https://www.kolekti.com/getpanorama

It's an upcoming app that, to my knowledge, can become my go-to tool for LCM and high level content management.

That's reasonable and I don't mean to be mean to the Atlassian team, but I have 20 documentation spaces to manage and I already got excited that this feature might have all the things I need without adding more apps to our instance.

I'm just disappointed that this wasn't released in a better state.

Let's see what the future brings.
