Creating any sort of space fails silently

Haven't used confluence for a couple of years, but I am seeing flaky behaviour if I try to create any type of space ( tried Knowledge, Documentation, no luck ) this morning. Sometimes the "create" button remains greyed out after I fill out all the details, other times it's active but when I click it there's zero feedback and nothing happens. In console I see a 403 coming back from some ajax request. Lots of errors if I generally click around trying to do stuff, quite a number of Cross-origin requests failing from Atlassian's side.  Any issues today? It looks pretty broken. :(

Judging by the deluge of replies, is appears Confluence being unusable is expected behaviour. Moving forward, I'll be recommending the team look at moving to  a platform that actually works. Our company should not be paying for this.
