Confluence freezes when editing a page

Sergio Alonso September 1, 2021

Good afternoon,

I have a question about something which is happening to me (and more colleagues from my company) regarding Confluence while editing pages.

The question is: Is it normal that Confluence freezes while editing a page wich contains macros?

I'm asking this because when I'm doing it, I see that I'm getting messages like "App is not responding" and after a while, Chrome is asking me if I want to wait or leave the page.

To be honest it is quite annoying as it happens only when editing (when creating a new one, we don't have the issue) as also it consumes a lot of memory of my computer (the fan gets crazy).

Then my question here is, is there a way to avoid the display/update of all the records of the macro while editing (to make it lighter) or is there something that we can do to avoid this behavior?

Thank you very much in advance.

Sergio.

Hi Sergio,

If it is happening in Chrome, have you tried other browsers? Even if it's happening to other users if your company uses Chrome it could be a Chrome related issue.

If it doesn't occur in another browser you can try to use incognito mode to see if it's related to cache and cookies. I would also make sure you have the latest version of Chrome.

Chrome itself is known to be very resource intensive so I wouldn't be surprised if it's causing issues.

Best,
Clark

Thank you very much Clark, I've tried it with Safari, and to be honest, it improved compared with Chrome, as once the data (preview) of the whole page is loaded in edition mode, I'm able to click on the different frames to modify the details, filters, etc but seems that the information Confluence displays is quite heavy as Safari says "this page is using an increased amount of memory, closing it will improve the responsiveness of your computer".

What I'm displaying on these pages mainly is a page properties table with a filter, could be this the problem? how I can improve the loading time or what do I should do instead of it?

Thank you!
