The person who has created the database user for you will be having the password, which you can configure in <local-home>/confluence.cfg.xml on the confluence server, you can use Putty to connect to your confluence server, if you have username/password to login to the server.
After login to the putty using username and password, what should I do.

Assuming you have logged in with the user who has correct permissions to view/edit <local-home>/confluence.cfg.xml, just navigate to your home directory - 'cd <local-home>/' and run 'view confluence.cfg.xml' command to view whats configured in that file.
