I see the "code snippet" macro for Confluence Cloud, but that is just static text, correct? On server Confluence we utilized a plugin (because native functionality was not available) to insert code snippets that were linked in Git so we could keep them in sync with a repository and not have to update the text in two places every time there is a change. Does the code snippet macro for Confluence Cloud sync to a Git repository ?
Thanks for your question, and sorry for the delay in getting back to you. As Aron mentioned, Git for Confluence is likely what you’re looking for. You can embed Git files and folders in Confluence, and they’ll sync automatically. Plus, you can share Git files with Confluence users who don’t have access to the repo, basically making it the single source of truth for your company.
If you haven’t tried Git for Confluence yet, we’d love to show you more about it! Reach out to us through our support, and we’d be happy to give you a demo and answer any questions.
Cheers!

I don't know if Atlassian's solution is "static", but there is an app developed for this use case: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1211675/git-for-confluence-markdown-plantuml-graphviz-mermaid?hosting=cloud&tab=overview
You may want to check this out if the built-in feature is overly limited.

Thanks Aron. I will pass along both the built-in and the app solution to the team and see which one best fits their needs.
