We are trying to display Jira Assets in our Confluence environment following the instructions found here:
When trying to add the /assets macro however we get the error message:
To request access, contact your site administrator."
I am one of the site admins.
My suspicion is that this issue is because we are on Confluence Cloud, but our Jira is on Data Center, can someone please confirm this?
You are right !! The error is indeed caused by a mismatch between your Confluence and Jira hosting environments. Your Confluence instance is cloud-based, while your Jira instance is on Data Center.
This discrepancy prevents the Assets macro in Confluence Cloud from integrating with Jira Service Management Cloud, which is necessary for fetching and displaying Assets data. The root cause of this issue lies in the way the Assets macro is designed to function within the Atlassian Cloud ecosystem.
Specifically, it relies on communication with Jira Service Management Cloud via the REST API and requires both instances to be within the same Atlassian Cloud environment.
Since your Jira instance is on Data Center, the macro is unable to establish the necessary connection to fetch the Assets data.
Hope this helps - Happy to help further!!
Thank you very much and have a great one!
Warm regards

Quick follow-up question, are you aware of any other way / marketplace app that allows showing Jira (DC) Assets in Confluence cloud?
Best Regards,
Robin

When it comes to integrating Jira Data Center assets with Confluence Cloud, the options for third-party apps are limited due to the inherent differences between the cloud and data center environments.
