Hey everyone 👋 Firstly, a massive thanks to those who have already been using Fabric and giving us a bunch of awesome feedback. Y’all rock!
Eternal gratitude aside, let’s dig into some of the new features we’ve shipped recently. This post will share some sneak peeks at what’s coming next. Read on to hear about all the fun.
Structure your whiteboard, draw diagrams, or just add a bunch of random shapes for funsies! Simply select one of the 8 shapes we support from the main toolbar and drop your selection onto the whiteboard.
Want to change color? No worries! We’ve added a new color picker with 27 options to choose from. If color ain’t for you, you can also remove the fill of any shape.
Create a diagram, show relationships between Smart Links, and so much more with connector lines! Select the line icon in the main toolbar then use the anchor points that appear on any element to connect two together.
Want to have some more fun with connectors? Try:
Changing a straight line to a dynamic line so that the connector reshapes as you drag the two objects around the board
Update the color of the lines
Add arrows to the end of your lines
Now it’s easier than ever to get started prioritizing work, retro’ing past sprints, and just having a good 'ol time inserting a metric tonne of Jira issues to Fabric. With our Jira importer, you can search and insert across all your sites and projects, in all your products.
Oh yeah, you can also use Atlassian’s full-blown JQL editor and sort results by columns. Finding and inserting exactly what you want has never been easier!
The following are just some of the things coming over the next couple of months 🚀
We’re making it easier than ever for team’s to assign priorities to issues, add assignees, labels, risk levels and more. With Smart Sections, we’re not only going to provide you basic bounded sections on a board, we’re going to provide automations on top. Simply dropping a Smart Link (or in some cases a sticky) into a Smart Section will take whatever action you’ve defined!
Before work is moved into Jira, we know users want a quick way to roughly map out how work is done. What blocks what? What is related to what? With Smart Connectors, users can select a connector line between two Jira tickets and create a link between the two. This is based off the link
field in Jira, and syncs back to that in real-time
We know work can be messy. We hear a lot that customers big and small want a more unstructured place to see how all work fits together. With our upcoming expanded view, users will be able to expand out parent
, children
, and linked
issues of a specific issue.
Over time, we’ll not only use this paradigm to support other tools, but we’ll also use this to enable expansion of relationships across tools! Imagine having an:
Atlas Goal
that you can expand to see all...
related Atlas Projects
, that you can then expand to see all...
Jira Software Epics
and Jira Product Discovery ideas
, that you can then expand to see all...
feedback from Intercom
, that you can then expand to see all…
We’d put this one off for a while as we figured people wouldn’t initially have enough whiteboards to make it a burning necessity. That’s no longer the case, so y’all will have it soon
We’ve loved having everyone on the journey with us, and can’t wait to hear what you think about the product as it evolves. Please continue to provide candid feedback via the various channels we have with you. Feel free to drop any initial thoughts in the comments below!
Cheers,
Jonno | Product Lead, Fabric
