What I'm trying to do:
I'm attempting to create an org. chart in Confluence Whiteboards. I want the high-level org. chart to be pared back, listing a department's name rather than every individual in the dept., for example, but then I'm hoping I can have that dept.'s name hyperlinked to another section in the whiteboard that does list out all individuals in that dept.
What I'm running into:
While I can add a link to another section or object in the whiteboard, it creates a link "card" that only shows the name of the whiteboard & "Confluence Whiteboards". I have the options to embed the linked content or show just the URL text, but I can't hyperlink my own text (such as having the link associated with the text box name of a department). Second, but slightly less important, is I don't have the option to toggle the link to not open in a new browser tab.
The ultimate question:
Is what I'm trying to achieve currently possible in Confluence Whiteboards, or is this a feature request?
Thanks!
I don't think you can. It would have to be a feature request. However, you can paste a url to the whiteboard and it will create an object on the board. See image below.
In case anyone stumbles across this... out of my 2 problems outlined here, 1 has been solved!
You can now modify the link text so it shows up as a hyperlinked word or phrase instead of a link card.
<---Ta-daaah!
Now I'm still hoping we can get an update where self-referencing links can NOT default to opening a new browser window. You can vote for that feature here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFCLOUD-78466

@Alexis Marticorena there is no current way to link to self in a Whiteboard and remain on the same page. Links were designed to reference external assets such as Jira Issues and Confluence Pages.
While your use case makes a lot of sense, it's not supported. There is a JAC issue already registered for this recommending that links to the same page act more like anchors would in a Confluence Page.
