Early access is out!

Early access to databases 🎉

We’ve kicked off our early access program (EAP) for a small set of the customers!

Admins of instances that are part of the early access program should have gotten an email. If you are an admin and got an email but don’t see databases on your instance, respond here letting us know!

If your tenant is in EAP, you’ll see a “Databases alpha ” tab in your left navigation bar. When a new early access feature is released you’ll see notice an Alpha lozenge next to it, so make sure to try it out and let us know what you think!

We’ve already rolled out a couple features ⬇️

  1. Edit a database without publishing a page! Go from /slash command database → editing!

  1. Edit database titles with ease.

Need additional support? You can always reference our help documentation for details on how to configure Confluence databases.

We are actively working on rolling out the early access program for databases to more customers in the future.

In the meantime, we are eager to hear your feedback. How’re you using databases, what’s helpful, what functionality would you like to see? We want to hear it all! That’s exactly what this community space is for, so drop all your thoughts here.

Or grab time for a quick chat: https://calendly.com/divyasriram

Can’t wait to hear what you think,

Honestly, we're loving it. Took a bit of diving into the docs to figure out some stuff, but this is a fantastic feature - well done team!  Only thing I'd love for longer-term is being able to work on specific cells of the data kind of like a spreadsheet.

@Divya Sriram sadly my org has not (yet) been enrolled as an EAP participant. Can you provide links to the current documentation though?

@Divya Sriram and team: Congrats, well done! 🎉

I am super happy to be able to edit databases in the editor.

We had a pretty extensive set up with the old add-in, and while the upgrades are certainly great, some have also broken our prior infrastructure.

Specifically, we used the single use db filters on all of our SaaS App management pages to filter contacts for the app (from our contacts db) that the page is tied to. That feature seems to have either been removed or broken, so we have a huge amount of pages that are broken without any workarounds. These pages also housed filters to other db's based on the app name, so those are also broken...

Additionally, while we love the ability to edit inline on editable pages, it looks like the ability to edit a db entry without editing the page has been removed.

To echo @Elle Longwell we are currently unable to save custom views for in page database macros (previously done by clicking the edit button for the Marco and creating a filter/editing card layout) which is a breaking change for us in how we use these entries on pages.

Additionally, while being able to edit a database entry while editing a page is nice, I did find editing the database on the page without entering the page editor was more convenient in a handful of scenarios. Additionally, if this is going to be the only way to add/edit entires, publishing the page should automatically save any changes made to the database entries.

Overall, happy to see the Atlassian team acquiring this tool and putting additional development into its functionality!

This was possible until last week - editing and creating new entrys without page edit. We are sad about the hopefully unintentional change. An option to configure the behaviour would be perfect. @Elle Longwell

Hi @Divya Sriram

Just a quick question as we've been looking into Confluence Databases briefly and love it so far. However, it seems like we're missing some features after reading the initial how-to documentation and updates. "Database entry" macro is one of those things and it seems like som linking features are missing as well.

Why is this?

Thank you!
