Select runs-on for a step dynamically

Edited

I'd like to be able to select the "runs-on" values for a step dynamically, so that I do not have to hard-code the repeated use of a step against different runners.

Is this currently possible within the Bitbucket Pipelines yaml? I thought about using YAML anchors however there isn't any conditional logic possible there unless it is within a '-script' section.

Edit: I have come across this Jira Issue that is related; hopefully it gets some votes!
