Dear Atlassian Community,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to seek assistance regarding a critical issue I am facing while attempting to download a file through the Bitbucket API. Unfortunately, I have encountered the "ERROR CONNECTION RESET" message, and after thorough investigation, it appears that the issue lies on the Bitbucket side.

I have conducted several tests and researched extensively to ensure that the problem is not on my end. However, the attached video clearly demonstrates the issue, confirming that it is indeed a Bitbucket-related issue.

Hi Eren and welcome to the community!

I would suggest to first check if the issue is reproducible in the following cases:

  • when you use an Incognito window of your browser with all browser extensions disabled
  • when you use a different network, e.g. your mobile network
  • when you use a different device
  • when downloading a different file from the Downloads page
  • when downloading a file from the Downloads page of a different repo

This is to narrow down whether the issue seems to be specific to a certain network, device, file, or repo.

If the issue is still reproducible in all these cases, do you have access to a VPN to connect with an IP from a different country and check if you can download the file then? We've had two reports about a similar issue in the last few years, and the culprit was that certain authorities in the users' regions were blocking bbuseruploads.s3.amazonaws.com which is used for files in Downloads.

Kind regards,
Theodora
