Error while importing GitHub private repo to Bitbucket.

Getting the below error while importing my private repo from github to bitbucket.

  1. 13:26:58 git import for: <Github URL>
  2. 13:26:58 Cloning <github URL>
  3. 13:26:58 Remote Git clone failed: <class 'bitbucket.apps.asyncx.tasks.RepoImportTask.ImportException'>: Command failed. Return value: 128

Is the GitHub repository you are trying to import private? If so, are you providing authorization details on the import page?

Please keep in mind that you will need to generate a personal access token for your GitHub account, and use that instead of your account's password in the import form, as GitHub has deprecated basic password authentication for Git operations.
