LFS is a need for big bucked when you have some large files in your project ?

I would like to know if I the Git LFS is needed to use for some large files in my project or if it's only for some time winning in transfer ? 

I am actually working on a project on unity that is large with some large FBX files do the LFS config is "needed" for this files ? Or can I use bitbucket without using it ?
