Well it would have been nice if you sent your users an email about this. I just logged in to discover that you deleted all my private repositories. Thanks!

They could make archives of the repositories and make it possible to download them. I'm really sorry I missed this time to save my projects. I have no good words.

According to the announcement from Octobus you should find a complete backup of your (public) bitbucket projects at https://bitbucket-archive.softwareheritage.org/

(If your lost projects were privat then try to aks Atlassian directly hoping they could help...)

I just want you to know, Atlassian, I have not forgiven you for this incident and I continue to badmouth you every chance I get. I hope it was worth it to ignore us.

Were you also reminded that the company existed and of their betrayal by getting an email about being awarded a "1 Reply Posted" badge; reminding you of the only place you've ever interacted?

I find it quite interesting how long our grudge has lasted and how it is rekindled whenever the company or their products are mentioned. I indeed also hope it was worth it to ignore us.

I moved my Hg repos to SourceHut https://hg.sr.ht/~speleolinux/
It's a single owner with a few paid staff. I'm glad I'm supporting a small ethical company.
Took me a little while to adjust to a new interface but its fine now.  Very pleased with them.

It seems the world is all Git, Git, Git & Git and if your version control ain't Git then you can git lost :-)  Mercurial is maybe about 2nd and a fair way down, but think of the users that use Bzr or Darcs or Fossil. They are even less well known.
