Hi, I am exploring using Jira for managing multiple internally developed applications for our company. We have a small team with changing priorities and i want to bring some structure to the process. each team member is responsible for enhancements for 2-5 homegrown applications and takes ownership for development, unit testing and release to production after UAT. I want to check if anyone has a similar use case and how are you managing and reviewing the team for its performance.

Hi @Narendra Singh Rana

Great to have you here!

This is suggestion at a high level, the actual Jira setup might differ based on the Team's needs.

To build a structure in Jira for Product Development, one major thing I consider is the size of the backlog for each product, if there is a huge Backlog for each product, it would make sense to have a separate Jira Project for each of the Products and have a Board to display all the issues in one place.

For the workflow, It will make sense to use the same workflow across all Jira Projects and have status to represent Development Effort, Test and Deployment

Example Statuses:

Backlog, Open, In Development, In Testing, In Deployment, Closed

Hope this helps!

Thanks Bhanu. This is helpful. We would go with multiple Projects as we need to have a separation for each internal application/product. Is it possible to have a custom workflow (as mentioned by you) to get created from a default template. Currently, we are manually adding some stages (e.g. Unit Testing, UAT) for each project.

hi @Narendra Singh Rana

As your use-case is broad and you are open to advice, the Didit Checklists for Jira app team made a video that could probably be of aid to you. Dominic, our product owners shows how agile teams can consistently hit quality benchmarks and ensure every release is on track with checklists for Definition of Done, QA, Acceptance criteria etc.,Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0MqBPMD1aw
