Build failing on non-required, NOT shared artifact not being published

Hi,

For one of my bamboo tasks, I generate an artifact when there are code changes and when there are not code changes, I do not generate an artifact. In my task, I created an artifact that is non-required and not shared but my build still failed when the artifact is not generated.

simple 16-Mar-2022 19:45:35 Publishing an artifact: test artifact
error 16-Mar-2022 19:45:35 Unable to publish artifact [test artifact]:
simple 16-Mar-2022 19:45:35 The artifact hasn't been successfully published after 86.73 ms

If the artifact is not required and not shared, why does my build still fail? Is there a workaround for the build to pass even when there is no artifact being generated?

It's working as intended.

What's the intended functionality for non-required artifacts. If they are non-required, why would the step job fail if they are missing?

This is ridiculous, if there are no required artifacts, a job shouldn't fail because there are no artifacts.
