Bamboo E-Mail Setup disable SSL

I'm attempting to set Bamboo email notifications up, but running into the following SSL error:

The mail settings you entered were not valid. Error thrown was: javax.mail.MessagingException: Could not convert socket to TLS; nested exception is: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target

I've searched out that error and found that certificates need to be added to the keychain, but this is a private email server that isn't offering SSL at all. I've specifically set the port to 25, and I've also tried to enable TLS with the same error.

Any hints?
