customfield displaying objectID

Hello all.

I'm calling a customfield for location populated by an assets object schema. 

so location is custom field X.    when i call that {{issue.customfield_X}} it returns what looks to be the corresponding buildings Object ID- plan text "MF-18077" 

thoughts on how to make that display as the name of the building that is shown otherwise in the ticket?

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

What you see is expected, the asset custom field will always return the object key when you are using {{issue.customfield_X}}. In order to get to the attribute you are looking for you have to use the dot notation, something like this, {{issue.customfield_X.Location}}. You can learn more about it in this KB.
