Insert a template into Description field

Is there a way in Jira to insert a static text template in the Description field for bugs?

I want all bug filers to include some standard information in the description field - a template will help drive that behavior without creating custom fields for all that information.

Hi,

• Out of the box Jira:
  
  • You can tryhard and achieve that, but personally I do not recommend below solution.
  • As you are unable to customize/modify system's Description built-in field, you can create another custom field named "Advanced description" and add there a default value.
  • Notice 1:
    • Please keep in mind that "Default value" is a standard value and not a placeholder. It means if user does not change anything inside this field, task will be created with your "default value".
  • Notice 2:
    • Also please keep in mind that if you set "required" flag to that field it will be fullfilled from start as your "default value" is - again - a value inside the field.
  • Notice 3:
    • You will have to hide system's default "Description field" inside those project(s) and delete it from screens.
  • Notice 4:
    • Consider using automation for copying the values from "Advanced description" to to system's (hidden in that case) default Description field as it may be usefull for any JQL queries or in dashboards widgets.

Hi @hpatani,

If you want to have prefilled fields on the native Create issue screen, you have to use the app which allows you to do it. For example, our app called Issue Templates Agent for Jira. You can define template not only for Summary and Description but also other fields.
