I just saw in the weekly release blog Atlassian is rolling out a new rule action, allowing the creation and upload of Google Docs from Jira and Confluence automation rules. This should help for those trying to generate content which is consumed by other processes pulling from a Google Drive.

It doesn’t seem possible to attach a newly created Google Doc to a newly created issue as part of an automation triggered when the issue is created. That feels like an obvious use case that was overlooked.. was this considered?
