SCIM-synced Teams EAP - We'd love to chat and hear your feedback

Hi everyone,

Happy new year! Hope you all had a great start to 2025.

I’m April (if you don’t know me already) and I’m a product manager looking after Teams. We’ve been running this EAP since October. We’d love to check in and hear more in-depth feedback.

Note: we want to record these interviews for research purposes, please let me know if you’re not comfortable doing so.

Any feedback, positive or negative would be extremely helpful.

• Are you finding the feature useful? For example, managing team memberships manually less frequently? Is it easier to create large teams? Are you inclined to create more teams because of this?

• Is the concept of a Managed Team clear to you?

  • Managed Teams are now indicated by a tick. Is this tick indicator useful in helping end users select the correct team?

• What other features would be beneficial for you?

  • This post highlights the new and upcoming features in Managed Teams, please let me know if you want to echo anything here or believe there’s something else that should be on our radar.

This will be useful, but IMO there are high priorities than HRIS integration such as ensuring that the Teams field plays nice with Jira Automations and can be used on dashboard gadgets (e.g. two dimensional filter) for reporting purposes.

Thanks for your continuous work on this topic!

My org is not yet using this feature, but will soon be. Let me try to answer your feedback questions anyways.

• Are you finding the feature useful?
  Absolutely! Everything that syncs things across a rapidly growing org is a huge win.
  
  • Managing team memberships manually less frequently?
    Ideally we won't be managing any groups/teams manually in Atlassian Cloud, but get everything synced from our single source of truth. So yes, this will benefit us greatly, especially as we won't have to write separate integrations for groups and teams, but can just repurpose groups.
  • Is it easier to create large teams?
    Yup. 
  • Are you inclined to create more teams because of this?
    Let's put it that way: We are inclined to actually use teams. Especially with the addition of managed teams, we intend to only use those and tell people not to create their own ones, so their number should not grow exponentially, but in a controlled manner.
• Is the concept of a Managed Team clear to you?
  Yes.
• What other features would be beneficial for you?
  
  • API everything: For every action one can perform in the admin UI, there should be a public API endpoint. Use cases are bulk actions, IAM as code.
  • Setting to disable non-admins to create teams manually: Stop the number of teams to grow exponentially.
  • Sync all changes from a group to a team: Not just memberships, but also name.
    Proper logging: For audit purposes, changes to teams should also be reflected in logs.
• Sync with HRIS software
  Sounds great. Should I book a demo or can I sign up for an EAP somewhere?

I submitted an application for our instance to be included in this EAP but haven't received any notification that this has been turned on yet.  I'd love to test this with our organisation so we can provide some feedback.

As the new public API to create connected teams has now landed, may I quickly ask when Managed Teams will also update a team's name based on the group's name? Afaik it's memberships only atm.

we love to try the SCIM-synced teams(already applied an application). The need is high, the company i work for, has already asked me to create an app that can manage this(based on the founded api's)....

If it's still possible to enter the program, please let me know, else i need to build something
