I received an email from "advocates@am.atlassian.com" containing the following message. Could someone please assist me in understanding the nature of this email? I'm unsure if it's a legitimate message or potentially a fake one.
Thank you.

Dear Atlassian user,
U.S. law prohibits Atlassian, an Australian corporation with offices in the United States, from providing you with access to our products and services. After analyzing the applicable lists of restricted parties maintained by the U.S. Government, we were unable to confirm that your name was not affiliated with a restricted party. If this is a case of misidentification, please reply with two different copies of official documentation to verify your identity.
Official documentation includes, but is not limited to, a government-issued driver's license or identification card, passport, utility bill, mortgage or bank statement, etc. Please make sure your full name and address are clearly visible.
We look forward to your reply.
Regards,
Atlassian

HI @IT Support OneVoice Digital and welcome to Community.
This definitely sounds like a scam. Atlassian does not require any IDs to use their products. Please forward the email to abuse@atlassian.com so that Atlassian can investigate.
Thank you so much Laura, your reply is very much appreciated, I will definitely forward the email to Atlassian for investigation.
Once again thank you so much!

Hi @IT Support OneVoice Digital
I can confirm that this is a valid email from Atlassian. It appears that the account that received this email matched against a list that Atlassian uses in order to perform export control checks. Atlassian is legally required to perform such checks under US law.
I have re-opened that support ticket, and asked that someone from my customer advocate team review this. I believe they have more details on this than I can see. I recommend that you reply to that email, as the account in question is currently deactivated within our systems and will remain that way until we can confirm the identity of the user.

Hi Andy,
Thank you for replying.
I have sent the query to abuse@atlassian.com, but haven't received any response yet, if this is a genuine email then do you suggest sharing the documents requested in that message?
If you can confirm this so that I can arrange and send the doucments.

You won't receive any reply from the abuse address. That mailbox is designed only to received reports of abuse, it cannot reply to you.
I can confirm that the email you received is genuine. We have a support ticket to track that specific issue in https://getsupport.atlassian.com/servicedesk/customer/portal/35/CA-2642862 however because that account is currently deactivated, you likely are unable to login to the customer portal right now to be able to interact with that ticket.
But you can use email to reply to the message you received in order for it to update that request. With the proper documentation, I expect that our team can review this and potentially reactivate the account.
