Here's more news than you can actually use but there were a LOT of things happening this week.

  • In the race to compete with OpenAI, Anthropic released Claude 3.5 Sonnet. The startup says this upgraded member of the Claude 3 family of models solves math, coding, and logic problems better than commonly used benchmarks. It is also said to be generally faster, better at understanding nuances in language, and has a better sense of humor.
  • Decagon is providing companies with AI agents that mimic human-like interactions for customer support. They use their own advanced models and other AI tools to train these chatbots by studying company databases and past customer chats.
  • An FTC blog post warns AI companies not to make false claims about their products. They've cracked down on companies violating advertising rules, urging transparency. It advises clearly labeling sponsored content and being open about how chatbots collect and use data, citing past actions involving companies like Ring and Alexa.
