Marketplace Partner Spotlight: Seibert Media

To keep the Partner Spotlight series alive and well, Atlassian has invited their partners to create their own spotlight articles following an Atlassian suggested format.

Here is the latest installment. An interview with Martin Seibert of Seibert Media.

Question: What is your role at Seibert Media?

Martin: I am the Founder & Co-CEO. However, I like to call myself the Chief Troublemaker.

Question: How does your team come up with ideas for new apps?

Martin: There are many ways. First, we have a team dedicated to fostering innovation across the organization. Among other things, they conduct workshops with our product teams to help them flesh out new product ideas. We also have an employee ventures program that enables our employees to become entrepreneurs while keeping their regular job and enjoy the financial security that comes with it.

We help them bring these products to the Atlassian Marketplace and will assist with sales and marketing after that. Aura is a great example of this. This employee venture reached Platinum Marketplace Partner status within three years of its launch!

But Aura is just one example. Junovi, coderay, Big Eazy Software, and kencha are employee ventures, too. And there are more to come.

We also keep an eye on new things coming out of Atlassian, and think about the ways we can add value. This is how Awesome Custom Fields and Spacecraft were created.

Finally, we have a joint venture program to help to help interested Atlassian Marketplace partners and/or those outside the ecosystem bring their products to a wider audience of Atlassian customers. We welcome outreach for any entrepreneur looking for a strong partner in the Atlassian Ecosystem!

Question: What has been the secret to your success so far?

Martin: We have created a work environment that promotes team collaboration to maximize results. We strongly believe that our strong financial results are the direct result of happy customers and happy employees. We like to say it this way: We build Kickass Software with Rock ’n’ Roll Teams.

Question: What is your most popular app? What problem were you trying to solve for customers when you created it?

Martin: draw.io is our most successful app and a great example of a successful joint venture. Our partner, JGraph, saw an opportunity to bring an easy-to-use yet powerful drawing app for Confluence and Jira to the Atlassian Marketplace. JGraph approached us because of our extensive experience in the Atlassian ecosystem. That partnership and draw.io still thrive, and it remains the most popular marketplace app to this day.

Question: What’s next for you?

Martin: Today, Seibert Media, together with our partners, offers more than fifty Jira and Confluence apps that extend these Atlassian platforms in compelling ways. We’ve recently united our employee venture and joint venture efforts under a new business owner and plan to invest further in this area. And we are investing further in our innovation team so they can better support our internal and venture teams. We’re excited to deliver even more and better apps for Atlassian customers in the coming years.
