Xray for Jira stops working after updating from Jira 8 to Jira 9 after 2/14/24

Dan Mihai October 16, 2024

Anybody has this issue?

We recently upgraded Jira from v 8.x to v 9.12.4 (the last release before the 2/14/24 deadline) and updated our Xray for Jira plugin to v 7.4.2-j9 (also the last release before the 2/14/24 deadline).

The Manage Apps screen shows Xray as installed with a VALID license, however the Xray License Management screen shows an "Invalid License" message and all test assets are now "redacted" with the same "Invalid license" error message.

The notice from Atlassian assured us that all existing server licenses as of 2/14/24 will allow the use of all products and plugins released before each license expiration date (in our case, 2/14/24) however this does not seem to be the case with Xray -- even though all of our other Jira plugins work as stated.

Migrating to the cloud is not an option for us, DC is way too expensive, and going back to Jira 8 is not an option either -- firstly because downgrading is not supported and not recommended, and secondly because that a downgrade to Jira 8.x will bring back all of those pesky security issues that were since fixed - like log4j, etc.

If anybody found a way around this. please help !!!

Hi @Dan Mihai

Have you had the chance to reach out to our Support?

Yes, I reached out and they gave me a custom build of  v 7.4.2-j9 which fixed the issue (apparently this is a bug in Xray).
